The University of Salzburg with its Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics – Z_GIS is offering up to 10 partial scholarships for UNIGIS distance learning MSc students for students from Russia and CIS countries. UNIGIS Salzburg is inviting applications for scholarships covering approx. 60% of the Euro 9800.- tuition fee. At the ‘Münchner GI-Runde 2015’ annual conference and awards in Munich – a leading geospatial venue for the German language community – UNIGIS graduates over the years have built a strong reputation for excellence and innovative ideas. Success story of UNIGIS Hungary continued …

On September 20th, this year’s group of 12 new UNIGIS candidates met for the first time under the new umbrella of Óbuda University. The Institute of Geoinformatics at the Alba Regia Technical Faculty in Székesfehérvár welcomed a highly motivated and ambitious class composed of surveyors, agricultural and forest engineers, geographers and other disciplines. With this 19th intake UNIGIS Hungary continues to offer advanced education within the UNIGIS International framework, leading students to a formal qualification with a postgraduate certificate and options to obtain international MSc degrees.

Academic Recognition for Universidad de Belgrano

The Buenos Aires – based Universidad de Belgrano (UB) has entered an agreement to work towards joining UNIGIS en América Latina as a regional study center. As a first step, a locally implemented ‘diplomatura’ in GIS will be recognized as equivalent with introductory UNIGIS modules, paving a pathway for students to continue towards UNIGIS professional certificate and UNIGIS MSc programs at the University of Salzburg. Rio de Janeiro University Exploring UNIGIS Cooperation

Big time congratulations to Simon Häsler: he not only recently completed his UNIGIS MSc at the University of Salzburg, but also managed to collect the prestigious distinction of ‘Student of the Year’ at ETH Zürich, where his thesis was supervised by Prof Martin Raubal. During the Oracle Spatial Summit on May 22 2014 in Washington, DC, UNIGIS Salzburg was distinguished as recipient of the Oracle Spatial and Graph Excellence Award in the ‘Education and Research’ category.
